What is THEREDBOX Projects?
Embark on a journey with THEREDBOX Projects, a self-directed cultural and creative initiative led by Carmen Toledo, a passionate Uruguayan-Spanish writer and theatre director currently thriving in the vibrant city of Amsterdam. This unique endeavour unfolds in collaboration with a diverse ensemble of artists, venues and occasional sponsors.
Our team at THEREDBOX Projects is a tapestry of skilled professionals, each with training and experience from different corners of the world. Our commitment goes beyond the conventional, as we willingly engage in projects as a cooperative, driven solely by our dedication to making compelling theatre. Although we’re sometimes labelled as amateurs because of financial constraints that prevent large venues or extensive promotion, we’re proud of our self-sufficiency. Our DIY approach is not a sign of inexperience, but a source of creativity based on learning and capacity.
Rehearsing, performing and honing our craft in direct communication with audiences is our lifeblood. It provides us with profound insights that enrich our growth as theatre artists. Although we’re artists who can’t live by our art, we can’t live without art; the pursuit of art remains our unwavering passion.
Dreams of a production company, grants, a dedicated space and the ability to invite more talented people to join our projects fuel our aspirations. In pursuit of these goals, however, we refuse to stay on the sidelines or at home. We remain committed to the arts, to our profession and to our creativity.
Join us on this artistic adventure as we seek support to increase our impact, secure funding and pave the way for a wider and more inclusive future for THEREDBOX Projects.
